NRA President LtCol Oliver L. North, USMC (Ret.), to be honored by The Marine Corps University Foundation
FAIRFAX, Va. – The President of the National Rifle Association of America LtCol Oliver L. North, USMC (Ret.), has been announced as the 2019 recipient of the Semper Fidelis Award by The Marine Corps University Foundation. The awards ceremony will take place onMarch 16, 2019, in Pentagon City, VA.
“For almost two and a half centuries, the United States Marine Corps has produced millions of brave men and women who have fought courageously from the shores of Fort Nassau to the streets of Fallujah and the shadows of the Hindu Kush. The Marine Corps University Foundation’s noble mission is to help shape better Marines, indeed better warriors. I am humbled and honored to be recognized by this distinguished body,” said Col. North.
The Marine Corps University Foundation, originally the Command and Staff College Foundation, was incorporated on June 25, 1980, as a nonprofit organization supporting the Professional Military Education (PME) of Marines. Initially, the Foundation’s role was to enhance and enrich the professional education and leadership development of Marines at the Command and Staff College at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia.
Today, the Foundation’s program focus begins with the Marine Corps University at Quantico and extends to support professional military education for the Operating Forces throughout the Marine Corps, both Officer and Enlisted; active and reserve. The Marine Corps University Foundation provides financial support for academic chairs, faculty and student research, lecture Series and public forums, battle studies, and visiting scholars.
