Celebrating National Hunting and Fishing Day with a Look Ahead to the 2019 Great American Outdoor Show

Why should the fourth Saturday in September be marked on your calendar every year? Because it’s National Hunting and Fishing Day! Since its establishment in 1972, National Hunting and Fishing Day has been promoting the outdoor sports and conservation through national, regional, state and local organizations, events and resources.

This year the annual celebration honoring advocacy for conservation and wildlife management also happens to coincide with the first day of fall. So, as the weather and leaves begin to change and hunting and holiday seasons start taking shape, spend a moment reflecting on the traditions, pleasures and responsibilities that your outdoor lifestyle represents.

But don’t stop there! As we commemorate this official day of thanks to sportsmen and women for their long history of protection and preservation of wildlife and habitats, there’s no better time to look ahead to February when the Great American Outdoor Show will return to Harrisburg, Pa. At this nine-day event—the world’s largest consumer outdoor show—the NRA brings together the best gear, outfitters and experts in hunting, fishing, archery, the shooting sports, outdoor recreation and beyond at the historic Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.

The 2019 show, scheduled for February 2-10, continues the annual tradition. With 650,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring everything from firearm makers and hunting necessities to RVs, boats and much more—plus a jam-packed schedule of activities and events for the entire family—there’s something for every outdoor enthusiast at the Great American Outdoor Show.
