This week we recognize Chairman Tim Leger, volunteer from Louisiana Friends of NRA.
Tim has been volunteering with Friends for the past 10 years. When he took on the role of chairman two short years ago, he also inherited the largest banquet in the state.
“He had his hands full,” said NRA Field Representative Chad Bowen. “He never gave up and continues to work hard each day to keep things up to par.”
Louisiana remains to feel the tugs of a tough economy, however the strong spirit Friends brings to the community remains to push through. Through innovative thinking and not shying away from attempting new things, Tim and his team have been able to persevere as a group through it all and retain its High Caliber status – meaning the committee raises more than $25,000 at a single event.
Just last year, Tim sold 10 sponsorships bringing in more than $7,000, raised $2,000 in pre and post-event raffles, and acquired multiple donations valued over $5,000.
When he’s not busy with his own banquet, Tim’s credited to helping his neighboring Friends with their own banquets. “I had three banquets in three nights,” said Bowen. “Tim came along and helped from beginning to end at each one. It was like having two of me at each event!”
No matter how big or small the task at hand may be, Tim’s the volunteer many in Louisiana can look up to. With a dedicated heart for the mission of Friends of NRA and the shooting sports, the program will continue to strive in Louisiana for years to come.
