This week we recognize committee member Harold Bowman, volunteer with the Swatara Valley, Eastern Pennsylvania Friends of NRA.
Harold’s journey with Friends began, like many others, by attending banquets about seven years ago. At that time, Harold and his wife were raising hunting dogs and reached out to NRA Field Representative Kory Enck to make a puppy donation at several events.
For the past two years, Harold has jumped in with both feet selling table and raffle tickets for the Swatara Valley event. He even helped other neighboring committees and managed to sell nearly 700 tickets within two years.
Harold has quickly earned the reputation as the go-to guy and is someone many can rely on. “I recently asked him to help sell additional tickets for another committee,” said Enck. “He sold 50 in a week!”
Friends of NRA has a strong passion to connect with communities and Harold has been instrumental to his committee with his outreach. “He knows a lot of folks,” said Enck. “Because of that he’s been able to connect with others, talk about Friends of NRA, and extend an invitation to attend a banquet.”
Harold has made a significant impact with members of his committee and others he meets. His drive and passion for the Second Amendment, the mission of Friends of NRA, and preserving the shooting sports for future generations are all strong qualities Harold possesses and what being a volunteer is all about.
