This week we recognize Chairman Kent Terry, volunteer of six years with the Quay County, New Mexico Friends of NRA.
In recent months, Kent sold over 500 banquet tickets bringing in more than $14,000, raised $4,000 in pre and post-event raffles, arranged underwriting for 30 items totaling $5,300, and acquired 30 donations valued over $5,000 for his committee’s banquet.
“Kent brings great value to the Friends of NRA program,” said NRA Field Representative Kevin Post. “He plays an important role with fundraising efforts for his committee while motivating them for a successful event.”
His efforts proved to be effective as the committee sold 377 tickets just 30 days prior to the event!
“That is more than any attendee total this committee has seen prior to an event,” shared Post. “The number of tickets sold just kept growing the closer we got to the date.”
Overseeing a committee of 20 volunteers has its challenges but Kent’s strong organizational skills and ability to delegate to a large team are some of his best qualities.
Among his time spent as committee chairman, Kent also serves on the state fund committee where he’s able to gather a deep understanding of the grant process to bring back to his committee so they’re able to make the best decisions possible.
Kent also extends a lending hand to his neighboring Friends committees if help is needed. “He’s worked games at several existing events and has even helped new committees get their bearings so they too can have a successful event,” said Post. “That’s just Kent, he’s always willing to help his fellow Friends.”
