This week we recognize volunteers Scott and Ramona Lee of North County, Southern California Friends of NRA.
Scott and Ramona have been volunteering for more than 12 years. As co-chairs for their event in Vista, California, the dynamic duo also actively supports two San Diego county events and help as needed to ensure banquets run smoothly and successfully.
“The Lee’s exemplify the spirit of volunteerism,” said NRA Field Representative Mike Davis. “They willingly put in the time and effort and work with others to help expand their fundraising efforts.”
For their own banquet, Scott and Ramona successfully sold tickets and tables worth more than $16,000, raised $3,500 in pre and post-event raffles, and acquired 30 donations valued over $5,000.
“They both work extremely hard to maximize event attendance and presales,” shared Davis. “They’re constantly coming up with new ideas to make their event fun and productive.”
Back in 2012, the couple conceptualized “Chicks With Guns.” This concept was the first in the area catered solely to women and is a packaged item used in their live auction grand finale. The item was such a hit that is has continued to be implemented throughout the entire area earning more than $60,000 in the last four years.
Over the course of their time spent with the North County Committee, Scott and Ramona have helped raised over $180,000.
“They genuinely care about the quality, spirit, and success of Friends of NRA,” said Davis. “They demonstrate this in the enthusiastic participation and leadership they share with their team and with all of Southern California.”
