NRA Foundation Announces Cars for Freedom Initiative

Modernizes WWII scrap metal drive campaign to inspire supporters to join in its fight to protect the same freedoms America’s Greatest Generation preserved.

FAIRFAX, Va. – The NRA Foundation launched today NRA Cars for Freedom, an initiative that encourages supporters to enlist in a movement of community-minded patriotism by donating their old vehicles. Donations to the initiative are tax-deductible and will be used by the NRA Foundation to educate the country, protect freedoms and reawaken American values. Those interested can visit http://www.NRACarsforFreedom.com or call 1-866-NRA-GIFT and the NRA Foundation will pick up their unneeded vehicles in almost any condition, for free, at a time most convenient for them.

NRA Cars for Freedom modernizes World War II print ads, movie theater newsreels and radio spots that were used to promote scrap medal drives. “During World War II, when the enemies of freedom cut off our military’s supplies, Americans back home held scrap metal drives. Farmers turned in tractors. Moms gave up pots and pans. Children offered their toys. All sacrificed to protect freedom,” said Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association. “In that same spirit, you can donate your old vehicles to NRA Cars for Freedom to help the NRA Foundation protect freedom during this critical time in American culture.”

“By donating your old and unused vehicles to NRA Cars for Freedom, you can do your part to protect our Second Amendment freedoms. There’s never been a better time to support the NRA Foundation and the donation process is quick, easy and hassle-free,” said Richard Childress, founder of NASCAR’s Richard Childress Racing and a supporter of the initiative.

NRA Cars for Freedom supporters may donate old or unused cars, vans, trucks, boats, RVs, trailers, jet-skis, snowmobiles, motorcycles and other vehicles. Vehicles in Alaska and Hawaii are not eligible for donation.

Updates and messages from supporters will be shared using the hashtag #CarsforFreedom on social media. More information about the campaign can be found at http://www.NRACarsforFreedom.com

Videos and radio spots are forthcoming. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in receiving links once they go live.
