Gun of the Day: Smith & Wesson Model 52

This 5-shot semi-automatic manages to successfully feed rimmed .38 Special wadcutter cartridges out of its magazine and with excellent accuracy. The original S&W 52s were produced for the The U.S. Army Marksmanship Training Unit (USAMTU), but the success of this design quickly expanded into commercial production. For many “three gun” or bullseye shooters, this was the .38 component of their trio of target handguns.
