Officers and agents from as far as West Virginia and Washington state vie for Top Shot honors

Pistol phase of the National Patrol Rifle Championships in Michigan

Commerce Township, Michigan - As the sun begins to set over fields and lakes of Michigan proper, competitors in the National Patrol Rifle Championships are packing up their rifles, stocking up their gear and making way for the Suburban Collection Showplace Convention Center. By sundown all will have returned to conference headquarters for the Annual Awards Ceremony Banquet.

Headlined by former Secret Service Agent turned author and commentator Dan Bongino, the banquet promises to eventually give way to the awards. Recognition of those who drudged through the courses, ignored the elements and eventually found a spot at the top of the leaderboard. Not as easy as it sounds.

For throughout the day, an estimated 131 competitors rolled in the dirt, fought with their optics, cleared those jams and drank in the day as one finally made it to the top.
