Shoot, they’re sure shots

When it comes to competitive shooting, the Fleming brothers aim for success — and they’ve succeeded again.

Wes Fleming and his brother Lee, both active duty members of the Coast Guard, take part in shooting competitions as part of the ad hoc U.S. Coast Guard’s shooting team. This year the pair captured first place in the Two Member Team National Championship. The win was also the first time a Coast Guard team has won a national team event. The victory came in July at the 2009 National Pistol Championships at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio.

Each year, the best military, police and civilian pistol shooters step up to the line for the competition. Wes, the Operations Chief at the Aviation Logistics Center in Elizabeth City, joined his brother Lee, the assistant branch chief of the Engineering and Weapons Schools in Yorktown, Va. Wes is a chief in the Coast Guard, with 23 years of service under his belt. Lee is a Lieutenant Commander, with 26 years of service.
